Quad 1 For Both Teams (1/1: 5 Games)
Top 30 at Top 75
30. Oklahoma State (17-7, 10-7 Big 12) at 17. West Virginia (18-7, 11-5), 2 p.m. (ESPN)
28. LSU (15-8, 10-6 SEC) at 39. Missouri (15-7, 8-7), 3 p.m. (SECN)
4. Illinois (19-6, 15-4 Big Ten) at 8. Ohio State (18-7, 12-7), 4 p.m. (ESPN)
16. USC (20-6, 14-5 Pac-12) at 43. UCLA (17-7, 13-5), 4 p.m. (CBS)
21. Virginia (16-6, 12-4 ACC) at 50Home and Office Decor. Louisville (13-5, 8-4), 4 p.m. (ESPN2)
Ohio State, still on the two line of Friday’s projection, visits current top seed Illinois this afternoon needing to snap a three-game skid. Note that the Buckeyes defeated the Illini n Champaign back on January 16th. Oklahoma State, meanwhile, visits West Virginia, with both squads having lost to Baylor this week. Cowboys star Cade Cunningham rolled his ankle against the Bears, so it will be interesting to see if he plays and how effective he can be if he does. The Mountaineers are going for a season sweep.
In the Pac-12, USC and UCLA are playing for a potential share of the league title, depending on what Oregon does against Oregon State tomorrow. The Trojans hammered the Bruins at the Galen Center exactly one month ago. Missouri, meanwhile, can finish the SEC slate on a high by recording a second straight win, if the Tigers can get past LSU. In the ACC, Louisville can grab a nice Quad 1 win at home by topping Virginia, after the Cardinals’ midweek game against Virginia Tech was canceled.
Quad 2 For Both Teams (2/2: 2 Games)
31–75 at 76–135
37. Rutgers (13-10, 9-10 Big Ten) at 77. Minnesota (13-13, 6-13), 12 p.m. (Fox)
53. Xavier (13-6, 6-6 Big East) at 90. Marquette (12-13, 7-11), 9 p.m. (FS1)
Both Rutgers and Xavier are among the last eight teams in Friday’s projected field, so each will want to baseball jersey mets complete season sweeps of their respective opponents.
Quad 2 For Host/Quad 1 For Visitor (2/1: 3 Games)
31–75 at Top 75
60. Indiana (12-13, 7-11 Big Ten) at 22. Purdue (17-8, 12-6), 2 p.m. (ESPN2)
58. Duke (11-10, 9-8 ACC) at 44. North Carolina (15-9, 9-6), 6 p.m. (ESPN)
57. Seton Hall (13-11, 10-8 Big East) at 69. St. John’s (15-10, 9-9), 7 p.m. (FS1)
With Purdue among the top 16 teams in the field at the moment and the Hoosiers now under .500, that contest doesn’t have the bubble drama of the other two entrants in this group. With a loss in Chapel Hill, Duke will drop to .500 and need to win the ACC Tournament to qualify. On the flip side, UNC’s position isn’t all that solid because of how the Tar Heels sandwiched a win over FSU with losses to Marquette and Syracuse. In the Big East, Seton Hall has slipped out of the field thanks to three straight defeats, while St. John’s climbed back into the picture thanks to two wins in its last three outings. Curiously, this is a bookend contest for both, as the Pirates defeated the Red Storm in Newark to open Big East play.
Quad 1 For Host/Quad 2 For Visitor (1/2: 3 Games)
Top 30 at 76–135
13. Florida State (15-4, 11-3 ACC) at 88. Notre Dame (9-14, 6-11), 12 p.m. (ESPN2)
7. Alabama (20-6, 15-2 SEC) at 93. Georgia (14-10, 7-10), 2 p.m. (CBS)
10. Villanova (16-4, 11-3 Big East) at 83. Providence (12-12, 8-10), 2:30 p.m. (Fox)
While Florida State looks to wrap up the ACC Tournament’s top seed and Alabama has already grabbed the SEC, Big East regular-season champ Villanova enters today’s game with much to play for. That’s because the Wildcats need to show the Selection Committee that they’re still a capable team even with point guard Collin Gillespie out for the season with a torn MCL. If Jay Wright’s team struggles today and in the Big East Tournament, it’s likely to drop from the three line.
Quad 3 For Host/Quad 1 For Visitor (3/1: 6 Games)
76–160 at Top 75
91. Georgetown (9-11, 7-8 Big East) at 32. UConn (13-6, 10-6), 12 p.m. (CBS)
89. Pittsburgh (10-10, 6-9 ACC) at 36. Clemson (15-6, 9-6), 12 p.m. (ACC RSNs/ACCNX)
115. Butler (9-13, 8-11 Big East) at 26. Creighton (17-7, 13-6), 5 p.m. (Fox)
147. Texas A&M (8-8, 2-7 SEC) at 11. Arkansas (20-5, 12-4), 5 p.m. (SECN)
96. UAB (20-6, 12-5 C-USA) at 59. North Texas (13-8, 9-4), 5 p.m. (ESPN+ ($))
106. Vanderbilt (8-14, 3-12 SEC) at 56. Ole Miss (14-10, 9-8), 7 p.m. (SECN)
Four teams that are either locks or near locks (UConn) will look to record comfortable home wins before heading to their respective tournament sites. Ole Miss, however, cannot lose to Vanderbilt before heading to Nashville for the SEC’s playoffs. Over in C-USA, UAB will look to follow Friday’s 65-51 win at North Texas with another in hopes of securing a No. 2 seed in the upcoming playdowns in Frisco.
Quad 2 For Host/Quad 3 For Visitor (2/3: 1 Game)
31–75 at 136–240
48. Utah State (17-7, 14-4 MW) at 187. Fresno State (11-10, 9-10), 11 p.m. (FS1)
On Tuesday, Boise State lost to Fresno State at home. Last night, it was Colorado State’s turn, falling at Nevada in a foul-fest. Tonight, Utah State becomes the third Mountain West bubble hopeful to take the floor for a makeup game this week. The Aggies will have to hope that their performance is the charm for their selection hopes.
Quad 3 For Host/Quad 2 For Visitor (3/2: 1 Game)
76–160 at 76–135
143. Old Dominion (15-6, 11-4 C-USA) at 79. Western Kentucky (17-6, 10-3), 5 p.m. (CBS Sports on Facebook Live)
WKU entered Friday in the driver’s seat for a No. 1 seed in the C-USA Tournament. While the Hilltoppers still control their own destiny, ODU’s 71-69 win on Friday night gives the Monarchs a real opportunity.
Quad 4 For Host/Quad 1 For Visitor (4/1: 1 Game)
161–353 at Top 75
206. South Florida (8-11, 4-9 American) at 63. Wichita State (14-4, 10-2), 1 p.m. (ESPN+ ($))
Houston needs USF to beat the Shockers to have a chance to seize the No. 1 seed in the American Athletic Tournament when it hosts Memphis tomorrow.
Quad 3 For Both Teams (3/3: 1 Game)
76–160 at 136–240
156. Stephen F. Austin (15-5, 11-3 Southland) at 150. Sam Houston State (19-7, 13-2), 6 p.m. (ESPN+ ($))
Quad 4 For Host/Quad 2 For Visitor (4/2: 1 Game)
161–353 at 76–135
328. Incarnate Word (8-12, 5-8 Southland) at 87. Abilene Christian (20-4, 12-2), 4 p.m. (ESPN+ ($))
Even though I screwed up and put SHSU as the Southland auto bid holder, idle Nicholls State (17-6, 14-2) is the clubhouse leader. However, with a win over SFA today, the Bearkats will jump the Colonels, thanks to a pair of wins. Remember that the Southland uses a stepladder bracket, so the top two seeds earn byes all the way to Friday’s semifinals, while the third and fourth seeds will play in Thursday’s quarterfinals.
Chronological Conference Tournament Schedule

OVC Championship
Game 7: No. 2 Morehead State (22-7, 17-3) vs. No. 1 Belmont (26-3, 18-2), 8 p.m. (ESPN2)
The season series was a home split.
Tonight’s winner was in line to claim the first automatic bid of 2021. However, last night, the ASUN semifinals gave us a championship matchup of top-seeded Liberty and fifth-seeded North Alabama. Since the Lions are currently going through their Division I transition, they’re ineligible for the NCAAs, making Sunday’s title game moot, and tonight’s winner in Evansville the second team officially in the field.
Belmont closed the regular season with a pair of road losses, capped by one in Morehead one week ago. However, the Bruins took that 89-82 OT defeat without injured center Nick Muszynski. He was back on the floor for Belmont’s narrow 72-69 semifinal win over Jacksonville State last night. The Eagles also won their semifinal, over Eastern Kentucky, by three, 67-64, in Friday’s nightcap.
America East Semifinals
ESPN+ ($) will stream both games.
Game 6: No. 6 UMass Lowell (10-11, 7-8) at No. 1 UMBC (14-5, 10-4), 2 p.m.
The pair have not met this season.
Game 7: No. 4 Hartford (13-8, 8-6) at No. 2 Vermont (10-4, 10-4), 4 p.m.
The pair have not met this season.
In a most unusual season, it’s another case of leagues that typically play a double round-robin dealing with a more scattershot schedule due to CoVID pauses and cancelations. So, the Retrievers and Catamounts host the two teams who survived last weekend’s opening rounds for a pair of first-time meetings with the season on the line.
Atlantic 10 Semifinals
CBSSN will air both games.
Game 11: No. 4 Saint Louis (14-5, 6-4) vs. No. 1 St. Bonaventure (14-4, 11-4), 6 p.m.
The Billikens won the pair’s only meeting (at home).
Game 12: No. 3 Davidson (13-7, 7-4) at No. 2 VCU (18-6, 10-4), 9 p.m.
The Wildcats won the pair’s only meeting (at home).
The top four seeds all advanced to the Siegel Center this evening, with the host Rams playing the closest game. Given the recent inability of the No. 1 seed to win this event, it’s particularly curious that the two lower seeds won their only meetings with the favorites this season.
Remember that today’s winners will not play for the title tomorrow. Instead, the Atlantic 10 final will take place in its traditional 1 p.m. on Selection Sunday slot, at the University of Dayton Arena.
MVC Semifinals
CBSSN will air both games.
Game 7: No. 4 Indiana State (15-9, 11-7) vs. No. 1 Loyola Chicago (22-4, 16-2), 1 p.m.
The pair split their season series (at Indiana State).
Game 8: No. 3 Missouri State (17-6, 12-6) vs. No. 2 Drake (24-3, 15-3), 4 p.m.
The Bulldogs won both meetings (at Missouri State).
Last year, the top two seeds, UNI and Loyola, lost in the quarterfinal round for the first time In Arch Madness history. In 2021, the top-seeded Ramblers eased past Southern Illinois in the first quarterfinal of the day, while second-seeded Drake did not even take the floor, thanks to a CoVID issue with the seventh-seeded Panthers. If Loyola and Drake both win today, they should both make the field on Selection Sunday. But if the Bulldogs don’t take advantage of the unexpected rest they earned against Missouri State this afternoon, they’ll have a long wait ahead of them.
The Ramblers should be okay even with a loss, though Indiana State will provide a stiff test, considering the pair split their series in Terre Haute.
NEC Semifinals
NEC TV (SNY, Cox YurView RI, NBCS Washington) will air and NEC Front Row and ESPN3 will stream both games.
Game 1: No. 3 Sacred Heart (9-8, 9-7) at No. 2 Bryant (14-5, 10-4), 12 p.m.
The pair have not met this season.
Game 2: No. 4 Mount St. Mary’s (10-1, 9-7) at No. 1 Wagner (13-6, 13-5), 2 p.m.
The Hawks won both meetings (at Mount St. Mary’s).
The NEC race has been wild this season, particularly between Wagner and Bryant at the top. The Seahawks will look to defeat Mount St. Mary’s for a third time, so they can host Tuesday night’s final, while the Bulldogs have to take on a completely new opponent in the Pioneers as they aim to reach that showcase matchup.
Patriot League Quarterfinals
ESPN+ ($) will stream all four games.
Game 2: No. 9 Loyola Maryland (4-10) at No. 1 Navy (15-2, 12-1), 12 p.m.
The Midshipmen won all three meetings (two at home, one away).
Game 3: No. 5 American (4-5 francisco lindor jersey mets ) at No. 4 Army West Point (11-8, 7-7), 3 p.m.
The pair have not met this season.
Game 4: No. 6 Bucknell (4-6) at No. 3 Lafayette (9-5), 2 p.m.
The Leopards won both meetings (home and home).
Game 5: No. 7 Boston University (7-10) at No. 2 Colgate (11-1), 1 p.m.
The Raiders won all four meetings (two at home, two away).
With the Patriot League playing a regional schedule this season, there are a variety of rematch situations in play for the quarterfinals. Today’s winners advance to Wednesday’s semifinals, while the championship game is set for Selection Sunday afternoon. Note that while BU needed to defeat Lehigh in the first round on Wednesday, Loyola was able to advance via walkover, as Holy Cross ended its season due to a CoVID issue.
SoCon Quarterfinals
Quarterfinals (Sat., March 6)
Select Nexstar stations will air and ESPN+ ($) will stream all four games.
Game 3: No. 8 The Citadel (13-11, 5-11) vs. No. 1 UNCG (18-8, 13-5), 12 p.m.
The Spartans won both meetings (home and home).
Game 4: No. 5 ETSU (12-11, 8-7) vs. No. 4 Chattanooga (18-7, 9-7), approx. 2:30 p.m.
The Mocs won both meetings (home and home).
Game 5: No. 7 Mercer (16-10, 8-9) vs. No. 2 Wofford (15-8, 12-5), 5:30 p.m.
The Terriers won both meetings (home and home).
Game 6: No. 6 VMI (12-11, 7-7) vs. No. 3 Furman (16-8, 10-5), approx. 8 p.m.
The Keydets won the pair’s lone meeting (at home).
While the SoCon was unable to complete a full conference slate, the majority of teams left in the field did meet twice. The regular-season race was a back-and-forth affair between UNCG, Wofford, and Furman, and the Paladins enter today as the only team out of the trio that hasn’t recorded a victory over its quarterfinal foe.
Summit Quarterfinals (Night One)
Midco SN will air and ESPN+ ($) will stream both games.
Game 1: No. 8 Omaha (5-19, 3-11) vs. No. 1 South Dakota State (15-6, 9-3), 6:45 p.m.
The pair have not met this season.
Game 2: No. 7 Western Illinois (7-14, 5-9) vs. No. 2 South Dakota (13-10, 11-4), 9:45 p.m.
The Coyotes won both meetings (at Western).
This season’s Summit League Tournament shifts from the Sanford Premier Center to the more intimate Pentagon. Tonight, the two home-state teams take the floor. That wasn’t much of an advantage last season, as both the Jackrabbits and Coyotes dropped their openers as the higher seed. The 3/6 and 4/5 matchups are set for tomorrow night.
Sun Belt Quarterfinals
ESPN+ ($) will stream all four games.
Game 5: West No. 4 Arkansas State (11-12, 7-8) vs. East No. 1 Georgia State (14-5, 8-4) (Pensacola Bay Center), 6:30 p.m.
The pair have not met this season.
Game 6: East No. 3 South Alabama (17-10, 10-7) vs. West No. 2 Louisiana (16-8, 10-7) (Hartsell Arena), 6 p.m.
The pair have not met this season.
Game 7: East No. 6 Troy (11-16, 4-12) vs. East No. 2 Coastal Carolina (15-6, 9-5) (Hartsell Arena), approx. 8:30 p.m.
The Chanticleers won all four meetings (two at home, two away).
Game 8: East No. 4 Appalachian State (14-11, 7-8) vs. West No. 1 Texas State (18-6, 12-3) (Pensacola Bay Center), approx. 9 p.m.
The paiNHL Jersey Size Chartr have not met this season.
We very nearly had a situation where all four higher seeds won in the Sun Belt opening round, which would have set up another quartet of first-time matchups, thanks to the conference’s strict divisional scheduling for this season. Then Scott Cross’s Troy Trojans defeated his former employer, the UT Arlington Mavericks. That moved the sixth-place team in the East into a quarterfinal against the division’s second seed, a Coastal Carolina squad the Trojans will meet for a fifth time tonight.
WCC Quarterfinals
Game 5: No. 5 Loyola Marymount (13-8, 7-5) vs. No. 4 Saint Mary’s (13-8, 4-6), 9 p.m. (ESPNU)
The Gaels won the pair’s lone meeting (at LMU).
Game 6: No. 7 Santa Clara (12-7, 4-5) vs. No. 3 Pepperdine (11-11, 7-6), 12 a.m. 03/07 (ESPN2)
The Broncos won the pair’s lone meeting (at home).
Tonight’s winners at Orleans Arena get Sunday off. That’s time they’ll need to prepare to meet the WCC’s two tournament locks, Gonzaga and BYU, in Monday night’s semifinals.
CAA First Round
FloHoops.com ($) will stream both games.
Game 1: No. 9 Towson (4-13, 3-9) vs. No. 8 Elon (7-8, 4-7), 3 p.m.
The pair have not met this season.
Game 2: No. 10 UNCW (7-9, 1-6) vs. No. 7 William & Mary (6-9, 4-6), 7 p.m.
The pair have not met this season.
The CAA was another conference hit hard by CoVID, so conference leadership moved the tournament from Washington, D.C. to a campus site, James Madison’s new arena in Harrisonburg, Virginia. In fact, the winner of today’s first game will meet the top-seeded hosts in Sunday’s second quarterfinal. Like the America East semis above, it’s another pair of first-time elimination meetings on tap today.
